As a glorious summer patiently departs, the absconding heat prepares itself to give way to an alluring autumn; a familiar breeze carries with it a generations-old promise; “Life is like the seasons”.
There is a great discipline in change; a great distinctiveness & harmony within the cycle of the seasons.
Human Nature is no different than that of our incredible planet. If we allow ourselves to embrace our primal intuitions, we soon find ourselves adapting, persevering; changing from the inside-out.
Our vision here at Public Leaf is not simply to tap into a person’s instinctual desires & legitimate needs, but to further inspire the focus of a lifestyle entwined with a dedicated ambition; facilitating our natural and inborn social behaviours, interwoven with our daily practical experiences.
One can endlessly continue to be amazed at how full of distinct life our earth is; from its deepest and coldest ocean floor to the most remote and scorching desert, there is life, there is energy exchanged. Though our ever-exceedingly, fast-paced culture breeds conditional ignorance, causing our vision to be narrowed, our minds unembraced, and our senses dulled; cultivated vigilance is necessary.
“Our feelings are an integral part of who we are. No feeling is bad or impure, even the uncomfortable ones, as long as we use the information to serve and support us.” Sheiya Rye
We must not battle ourselves, but learn instead to flow with the changes that come from within and around us; for Nature always wins..
“To everything there is a season…a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to reap that which has been planted” Ecclesiastes 3:2, The Bible
Just as with many of the beautiful Magnolia trees of North America, we are blooming mid-summer, yet striking and evergreen all year round.

Furthermore, we are excited to present TO Waste; we can’t help but want to give more to our City. Yes, this does include our waste, nonetheless in the most environmentally friendly manner of course.
TO Waste is to be Toronto’s first green app of its sort whose basic purpose is to increase the efficiency with which each of us - individuals and families - handle our waste.
A few features such as ‘Waste Touch’ enables users to be notified of the right bins to be collected by the city for a particular week, ‘Remind Me’ reminds users of the next scheduled waste pickup.
The app will be made available in the App Store on June 20th.

Now more than ever, we hold true to our founding premise and enduring promise; the Public Leaf Initiative, we are always striving to give back to the City of Toronto with every app we create. Our greatest aim is to facilitate the bridging of a gap between the people of the City of Toronto and their respective governments; “a greater harmony”.
In your hands, our app ‘TDOT 311’ will benefit the City in terms of aiding city cleaning-crews to learn the locations of vandal graffiti and luring potholes. (Android version available shortly)
Quick tidbits to know about us:-
o For a limited time, our app is absolutely free up until May 5th, 2012. Any charge in price thereafter furthers a long-echoed city-wide initiative to support our city’s libraries and encourage the flexibility of intellectual freedom.
o Due to the number of City cuts towards Public Libraries, we will be providing a source of funds to help run their day to day operations. Public Leaf is donating $0.30 to the Toronto Public Library Foundation for every ‘TDOT 311’ app sold after May 5th.
o Our relationship with the city is one of a private-public partnership i.e. the city is not making any revenues nor have they made any monetary investments in the development and distribution of our app, ‘TDOT 311’.
Always brainstorming and sharing ideas, the ‘People behind the Leaf’ foster a great love for the City of Toronto; working together to ever improve people’s daily interactions with their city. An overwhelming team desire is to have the people of the City of Toronto come to know Public Leaf as an aid, a community tool in everyone’s hands for each one of us to contribute, and be a part of a greater network of societal enthusiasm.
In light of Earth Day being celebrated around the world today, we would like to encourage everyone to embrace your own individual environmental responsibility.

The evergreen has leaves in all seasons, reinforces their own survival and exceedingly benefits younger evergreens to flourish; ever-enduring. We believe the symbol of the evergreen can be no better portrayed than through our society’s continuously self-renewed Intellectual Freedom; encouraging the free exchange of information and ideas in a democratic society, we feel that “The Toronto Public Library upholds the principle of Intellectual Freedom.”

Following a city mandate to cut $17 million from its operating budget, the Toronto Public Library is now looking at ways to bring in more revenue. Their vision is that “As cornerstones of their neighbourhoods, our libraries connect people to each other, to their community, and to their hopes and dreams.” We agree.

The Toronto Public Library Foundation was established in 1997 as a registered charity. Since its inception, it has raised over $46 million in support of Toronto Public Library priority needs. In initial fulfillment of our founding premise, Public Leaf are proud to announce that we are in partnership with the Toronto Public Library Foundation, whereby for every app sold we will be donating a certain portion of our sales to help reinforce the organization’s development.
Why we do so? Call it a sign of good faith; this is a glimpse of the workings of our continued promise, i.e. the Public Leaf Initiative, we are always striving to give back to the City of Toronto with every app. In your hands, our app ‘TDOT 311’ will benefit the City in terms of aiding city cleaning-crews to learn the locations of vandal graffiti and luring potholes.
With a single purchase of ‘TDOT 311’, you are simultaneously well on your way to giving back to your community and making Toronto a cleaner, safer place to live. This is how we at Public Leaf choose to enrich our community, assist our city, and encourage harmony; this is our evergreen.
Leaves are extremely variable in form and in function; behind the spirit that is Public Leaf lies the foliage of ideas through its people. Over the past weeks and those to follow, the team are working on many various tasks; to name a few: the design and development of community apps, creating a buzz of our ‘on-the-go’ services, increasing our community network by building strong relationships of shared merit, as well as launching our latest app “TDOT 311”.
All app development starts with a single question which resonates throughout each team member’s process, “How is our community going to benefit from this?” People widely benefit from wireless interactions at their disposal on a daily basis, in our digital world a central medium of this function is mobile apps. The Public Leaf team have a great amount of zeal to ‘give back’ to the communities that have given them so much; creating and sharing apps with that specific focus. Fortifying team structure and maintaining a team of fiery, jovial individuals who believe and support the vision behind Public Leaf if a chief aim, and the root of all its fruition. Always brainstorming and sharing ideas, the ‘People behind the Leaf’ foster a great love for the City of Toronto; working together to ever improve people’s daily interactions with their city.
Our key positioning is to be the first to facilitate the bridging of a gap between the people and its respective governments; ‘a greater harmony’. An overwhelming team desire is to have the people of the City of Toronto come to know Public Leaf as an aid, a community tool in everyone’s hands for each one of us to contribute, and be a part of a greater network of societal enthusiasm.
As part of the Public Leaf Initiative, we are founded on a simple premise; “For every app you purchase, we will be donating a certain portion of our sales to a local charitable organization”. Support us, and you will be helping the community. The team at Public Leaf view Toronto as a city which believes in giving back to the community, and each of us are deeply rooted in sharing this conviction.
